Thoughts about Kidd, Hickey, and Weschler

The Kidd reading spoke about directions and how viewing them in different ways causes us to see them differently. I like how it says that changing different things about the image, such as the focus or size, can change its focus. And also how we have natural tendencies in different parts of life.

I didn’t like how it brought up a battle, the analogy seemed like it was reaching and didn’t make as much sense as just explaining human behavior, also starts off with a weird quote that doesn’t seem like it fits well.

The Hickey reading was interesting in that it spoke a lot about the origins of basketball and explained the origins and reason behind a slew of rules, such as the reason for a backboard, which I never knew, and how it basketball never started with a coach or shot clock.

I didn’t like the beginning because it was describing something I couldn’t image because I didn’t know what a “paint drip” was and was too long for my liking – though I know the reason it was needed was to provide an introduction and segway into the author’s true purpose.

The Weschler reading was the most interesting to me, because it brings up a good point that I read about often when perusing news in my other interests, mostly technology articles. Animation and technology has gotten so good that it is almost real life looking, but the face limits our ability to convey all the emotions that it can on a real human being. I also like how it talks about milk and liquids, something else that is basically the last thing that doesn’t behave properly in video games or most CGI movies.

There really isn’t much I didn’t like about this article, I liked the topic, I liked how in-depth it went, the only thing I didn’t like it how it mostly only talked about the Final Fantasy movie flop, something I can’t relate to because I’ve never seen it so I can’t compare my thoughts to the writer’s.
